OldMapsOnline offers one of the most interesting ways to learn about how our world changed over time. You can scroll from the year -4000 BC all the way up until the present date and watch as the map becomes more familiar. The site allows you to learn more about each country along the way with a brief summary, who some of the notable people were during that time in the country, and an easy-to-view Wikipedia page of the country. You can also filter the map to show you the rulers of the times and countries, notable people, and all the battles that happened over the years. All of these have extra information for you to click on and learn all about. The coolest feature, imo, is being able to pull up a map that was created at the time you are browsing in. This hand-drawn map will overlay the dynamic map and you can see where it fits and how accurate they were for the time.
