Strudel
Free and open source music making platform using code.
Obviously, when making some kind of electronic music there is code running in the background. The keys you press on the widgey-whoo machines as a DJ make sound because of code. What's amazed me about this platform called Strudel, a free/open source Javascript version of tidalcycles and written in Haskell, is that it allows you to create music with code! Now, I'd never seen this done before and it blew my mind - I never thought about music being made this way. Totally making my top 5 cool stuff I've stumbled upon this year.
